What Does 35% Windshield Tint Look Like on a 2016–2024 Chevrolet Camaro?

What Does 35% Windshield Tint Look Like on a 2016–2024 Chevrolet Camaro?
35% windshield tint gives a 2016-2024 Chevrolet Camaro a noticeably darker appearance without making the view from inside as extreme as 20%, 15%, or 5% windshield tint.
From outside this blue 2020 Camaro SS, the windshield was clearly tinted. You could still see the driver or passenger during the day depending on the sunlight and viewing angle. However, the combination of 35% on the windshield, 5% on the sides and rear, small Camaro windows, and a black interior made the entire cabin look extremely dark.
This blue 2020 Chevrolet Camaro SS came to Dope Tintings Automotive Window Tint in Pennsauken, New Jersey, for 35% carbon film on the entire windshield. The Camaro had a black interior and already had 5% carbon tint installed on the side windows and back window.
This real-world example applies to the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, 2019 Chevrolet Camaro, 2020 Chevrolet Camaro, 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, 2022 Chevrolet Camaro, 2023 Chevrolet Camaro, and 2024 Chevrolet Camaro.

This installation included:

The sides and rear are covered separately in our 5% tint on a 2016–2024 Chevrolet Camaro article.
Why Did the Customer Choose 35% Carbon Windshield Tint?
The customer wanted a combination of privacy, appearance, glare reduction, and heat rejection. He wanted the windshield to complete the dark look created by the 5% side and rear windows, but he also wanted better nighttime visibility than he would get from a darker windshield percentage.
Carbon film was selected for the additional heat rejection it provides compared with our standard film. Since the windshield is one of the largest pieces of glass on the vehicle, tinting it can make an important difference when heat rejection is one of the customer’s goals.
Thirty-five percent also gave the customer the dark appearance he wanted during the day without making the windshield as difficult to see through at night as 20% or darker film.
What Can You See Through 35% Windshield Tint During the Day?

During daylight, you can still see the driver and passenger through 35% windshield tint under the right conditions. How much you can see depends heavily on the angle, reflections, weather, and direction of the sunlight.
When sunlight shines directly into the windshield, it may reveal more of the dashboard and the people inside. From other angles, reflections on the windshield can make the cabin considerably harder to see.
Looking through the side windows was completely different on this Camaro because they had 5% film. From the sides, it was difficult to identify who was inside or even determine whether someone was sitting in the vehicle.
Why Does Tint Look So Dark on a Camaro?
A Camaro can make almost any tint percentage look darker because its windows are relatively small and the cabin does not receive as much light as a vehicle with large windows.
This particular Camaro also had a black interior and 5% tint on its side and rear windows. Those factors reduced the amount of visible light inside the cabin. Adding 35% film to the windshield made the entire vehicle look even darker from outside.
That is why photographs of the same tint percentage can look different on two vehicles. Window size, interior color, sunlight, reflections, and tint installed on the other windows all affect the final appearance.

Is 35% Windshield Tint Good for Everyday Driving?
Based on more than 20 years of window-tinting experience, 35% is our go-to recommendation when a customer wants a noticeably tinted windshield.
It is dark enough to change the vehicle’s appearance, reduce glare, provide some privacy, and support heat rejection. At the same time, it preserves better outward visibility than 20%, 15%, or 5% windshield tint.
Every driver’s eyesight and comfort level are different. A customer who has never driven with a tinted windshield should consider nighttime driving, poorly lit roads, rain, and other conditions before selecting a percentage.
What Is 35% Windshield Tint Like at Night or in Heavy Rain?
Thirty-five-percent windshield tint is generally manageable at night for a driver with good eyesight. It is considerably easier to see through than the darker windshield percentages some customers request.
Heavy rain reduces visibility even without tint, so drivers must still use additional caution. Based on our experience, 35% remains manageable in the rain and is not normally a percentage that would require a driver to pull over solely because of the tint.

However, visibility depends on the driver’s eyesight, available street lighting, weather intensity, headlights, and road conditions. No windshield percentage will look exactly the same to every driver.
