What Does 25% Front Window Tint Look Like on a 2025–Present Subaru Forester?
See how closely 25% carbon tint looks on the front windows of a dark gray 2026 Subaru Forester and how closely it matches the factory-tinted rear glass.

What Does 25% Front Window Tint Look Like on a 2025–Present Subaru Forester?
25% percent tint gives the front windows of a 2025–present Subaru Forester a clean, moderately dark appearance that closely matches its factory-tinted rear glass. It is lighter than 20% tint, so the front cabin generally remains visible during daylight.
The exact appearance changes with the sunlight and viewing angle. In some of our photos, you can clearly see inside the Forester. From other angles, the windows create more of a silhouette effect. The black interior helps slightly, but 25% is not intended to provide extremely dark privacy.
This dark gray 2026 Subaru Forester came to Dope Tintings Automotive Window Tint in Pennsauken, New Jersey, for 25% carbon tint on its front windows. The goal was to closely match the factory-tinted rear glass while improving the Forester’s appearance, privacy, glare reduction, and heat rejection.
This real-world example applies to the current Subaru Forester body style, including the 2025 Subaru Forester, 2026 Subaru Forester, and future model years that continue using the same generation.
What We Tinted on This 2026 Subaru Forester
This installation included:
- 25% carbon window film
- Driver-side front roll-down window
- Passenger-side front roll-down window
- Two small fixed windows near the side mirrors
- Factory-tinted rear glass left unchanged

Although we refer to this as a two-front-window installation, the Forester also has two small fixed pieces of glass near the side mirrors. Those two pieces were included so the entire front window area would have a consistent appearance.
How Closely Does 25% Tint Match the Factory Rear Glass?
The 25% carbon film matched the factory-tinted rear glass very closely. On this Forester generation, 25% provides a more accurate visual match than the 20% film commonly used on many other SUVs.
The front and rear windows may not look identical from every angle. Sunlight enters through the untinted windshield and brightens the front cabin, which can make the front windows appear lighter than the factory rear glass. Weather, reflections, interior color, and the direction of the sun also change how the percentage appears.
However, when viewing the Forester from the side, the 25% carbon film creates a balanced transition from the front windows to the rear privacy glass.
Can You See Inside a Subaru Forester With 25% Tint?
Yes. During daylight, you can generally see into the front cabin through 25% tint. It does not consistently produce the stronger silhouette appearance associated with darker percentages.
From certain angles, reflections and shadows can make the windows look darker. From another angle, sunlight passing through the windshield or opposite window can make the driver, passenger, and interior easier to see.

The black interior helps the film appear slightly darker than it would with a light gray, beige, or tan interior. However, the difference is not dramatic because 25% remains a relatively moderate shade.
Customers choosing 25% should expect some additional privacy, but not complete daytime privacy.
Why Did the Customer Choose 25% Carbon Tint?
The customer primarily wanted the front windows to match the Forester’s factory-tinted rear glass. Tinting the two roll-down windows and the small fixed windows completed the vehicle’s appearance instead of leaving the entire front window area clear.
She also wanted:
- Additional daytime privacy
- Reduced glare through the front side windows
- Some heat rejection for the driver and front passenger
- A percentage that remained comfortable for everyday driving
Carbon film was the appropriate choice because our standard film is not available in the 25% shade needed for this factory match.
Is 25% Tint Good for Everyday Driving?

Yes. Based on our experience, 25% is a good everyday percentage for a 2025–present Subaru Forester, especially when the main goal is matching the factory rear glass.
It is dark enough to improve the appearance and provide some privacy without creating the nighttime visibility concerns associated with percentages such as 5% or 15%.
Individual eyesight and driving conditions always matter, but most drivers should find 25% comfortable during normal daytime and nighttime use.
Customers should also understand their local regulations before selecting a percentage. You can review our New Jersey window tint law guide before making your decision.
What Is 25% Tint Like at Night?
Twenty-five percent tint should have very little effect on nighttime visibility for most drivers. It is a relatively light percentage compared with the darker films frequently installed for stronger privacy.
Drivers should be able to see through the front windows in well-lit and moderately lit areas without a significant problem. As with any tinted window, individual eyesight, weather, and surrounding light can affect visibility, but 25% should not meaningfully hinder the average driver’s view.

Real photographs provide a better comparison than a small tint display because exterior color, interior color, sunlight, reflections, and the number of tinted windows can all change how a percentage looks.
