The customer didn't need the maximum heat-rejection performance of our ceramic package and didn't want to spend the additional money for ceramic.

Carbon provided the balance they were looking for:

• Good appearance
• Good clarity
• Lower cost than ceramic

Because they also added carbon film to the full windshield, they covered another major area where sunlight enters the cabin.

• Preparing for front-door panel removal
• Protecting areas around the rear glass
• Preparing the windshield and dashboard when applicable

We're not interested in seeing how quickly we can throw film onto a Lexus and move to the next car.

From a film-installation standpoint, the windshield is relatively straightforward for an experienced installer.

The more important issue is protecting the vehicle.

Full-windshield tint requires installation solution.

That's why film choice and glass coverage should be considered together.

It depends on your goal.

If you're tinting the sides and rear and want good heat rejection without paying for ceramic, carbon is generally the direction we'd recommend discussing.

If you want maximum heat rejection and are prepared to address the windshield and other major glass areas as well, ceramic becomes much more compelling.

The most expensive film isn't automatically the smartest purchase for every customer.

Ceramic film still provides benefits on the glass where it's installed.

However, that's different from achieving the maximum overall heat-rejection setup for the entire cabin.

If large sun-exposed areas such as the windshield or panorama roof remain untreated, solar energy can still enter through those areas.

That's why when a customer tells us:

"I want maximum heat rejection."

we discuss comprehensive glass coverage rather than simply selling ceramic on a few windows.
